Dear Patrons,
In the short time that the Valley Stables has been open, the amount of support we have received is well above any expectation we might have had. Mel and I just wanted to take a moment to express our gratitude and appreciation to all of you.
The Valley Stables came about simply because it was something we always wanted to do and thought we would have fun with. We wanted to build a place that we felt belonged here and a place that we would want to go to ourselves. The Valley Pub was a neighborhood place that people remember going to for generations. Being that it stood in an area that was known for horse farms, we wanted to create a place that fit that characteristic, kept that warmth, comfort and feel of a place that people have known for years and at the same time add high quality food and service.
As with any new restaurant, in the beginning there are going to be quirks that have to be ironed out and lessons to be learned. In the short time we have been open, we have made large strides in improving and correcting any issues and will always continue to work hard to improve our service and offerings. If there is any time that you don’t receive that high quality and service you should expect, please let Mel or any of our managers know and we will make sure you do. We greatly appreciate your patience in the beginning and your continued patronage. We look forward to serving you for generations to come.
We hope to make the Stables as enjoyable for you as it is for us. There will be nights with live music and we will post the schedules. With the NFL package and TV’s everywhere, please join us on Sundays for Football and Sunday specials. Also, please ask your bartenders for the regular happy hour specials. We have, and I am sure all of you have also, noticed that our parking can be a problem and doesn’t fully support the restaurant. We will have valet parking every Wednesday-Saturday night which should answer this issue.
Lastly, on Sunday September 11, in remembrance of those lost 10 years ago, we donated 100% of the profits from that day to Tuesday’s Children, a charity that provides support and services for the children of 9/11.
In today’s times, with the economy and recent hurricane devastation, we decided to pick one Sunday a month and donate 100% of our profits to a charity. Mel and I have various charities we support and we will choose one of those and other local charities for this cause. If you have a charity that you would like us to consider and support, please grab Mel or any of our managers to tell us about it. Whether we can fit it into our Sunday Charities or not, we will never turn down a good cause and will help support in any way we can.
Sunday, October 16th we donated 100% of all profits to Oakland Cares. These funds will help to continue the clean up efforts and provide much needed Shop Rite food cards for our neighbors in need.
Sunday, November 6th we donated 100% of the profits to Oasis. Oasis is a non-profit organization in Paterson that helps women and children in need. Thanks to all who joined us in helping our neighbors.
Sunday, December 11th we donated 100% of the profits to Pony Power Therapies. Pony Power Therapies is a non-profit organization that was founded to provide equine assisted activities to children and adults with autism, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, emotional disabilities, developmental delays, victims of trauma and abuse, war veterans and multiple handicaps.
In January, because of a timing issue for the Charity, we had to move the Charity to a different month. Instead, we averaged all January Sundays and donated 100% of the profits to Covenant House. Covenant House provides food, shelter, immediate crisis care and essential services to homeless kids.
Sunday, February 26th we donated 100% of the profits to the W. Cary Edwards Foundation. This non-profit organization is dedicated to helping and supporting New Jersey’s Youth through education. They provide grants for projects that support education and also fund scholarships. Thanks to all who joined us!
In March, because of a timing issue, we had to move the Charity and we will have two charity Sundays in April. On Sunday,April 1st we donated 100% of the profits to Autism Speaks. This non-profit organization is dedicated to funding research into the causes, prevention, treatments and a cure for autism; increasing awareness of autism spectrum disorders; and advocating for the needs of individuals with autism and their families.
The next Charity Sunday will be April 29th and will benefit Iron Matt a/k/a The Matthew Larson Foundation for Pediatric Brain Tumors which is a non profit foundation that raises money to provide financial assistance to families that have a child battling a brain tumor. They also fund cutting edge research to help find a cure and find treatments that are less toxic to a child’s developing brain.
Thanks Again for all your support at the Stables.
Joe and Melissa
